Is There a Secret to Marketing Success?

Dear business owner:

I hate to break it to you, but there is no magic formula for
marketing success. Simple as that.
Let me explain...

-- You can't change gears every time you turn around and
hope to build your presence, establish credibility, or create
a desire for your product or service.

-- You can't chase every shining object, thinking it is going to
transform your business, enhance your image, and turn you
into an overnight sensation.

-- Let me assure you that there is nothing you can do once
or twice, and hope to dramatically increase your earnings.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.

Why? Because marketing is not a silver bullet, a one-time deal,
or a sure path to success. It's not that sexy. And it's not that
complicated either.

Marketing, whether you want to hear it or not, requires a great deal
of hard work and discipline - in good times or bad; it's about
creating a plan and working the plan; it's about adhering to your
strategy and staying the course; it's about building and nurturing
professional relationships and not giving up, no matter what.
Yes, it can be boring, frustrating and time-consuming. But you
have to accept the fact that there is no way around it.

As you may know, most companies and entrepreneurs do not achieve
marketing success. Businesses that survive and prosper pay their dues
and do "the same thing over and over again", no matter how boring it
may be. As a result, they reap the benefits of their labor and gain more
recognition than their competitors.

Long story short - don't let the bad economy stop you from functioning,
getting the word out or growing your company. If you "wing" your
marketing efforts, stop doing any planning or budgeting, your potential
customers or clients will not be able to find you, and will never enjoy the
success you deserve.

I think it is time to stop looking for the silver bullet and roll up your sleeves.
Marketing can be hard, dull, and boring, and disappointment is inevitable.
But let's look on the bright side... Most of your competitors won't even bother
to do the job, giving you a chance to increase your marketshare, and
get ahead of the pack.

Now, are you ready to get down to work? It's about time...
